new student....positive future....

Okay.....Wow...A lot has happened since my last time logging on. I found out that I got into the program when I was on the way to Key West and this is after I received a REJECTION letter about a week earlier. My trip to the Keys was cut short but well worth it. Ive been busy. For the past couple months I've bought books, been learning the basics, Forumulas, additional Anatomy, policies, case studies, equipment and a ton of other things in the RT realm. In a way I'm sort of overwealmed with all of the info I am supposed to retain for the next two years in the program.....and of course the rest of my life. I have so many things racing through my head daily regarding what I want to do with my profession its driving me nuts. I start clinicals in a week and Im very excited about that. Maybe I'll eventually find my "niche". Bartender by night.....student by day......no life it seems but it will be well worth it.....

Someone shoot Ed Hardy.

Okay. At what point did it become fashionable to line your clothes with sequins, crappy wild designs or wear shirts 2 sizes too small? Im getting sick and tired of seeing guys ....and girls wear these ridiculous pieces of fabric people call clothes. The worst part about it....the people that wear them are normally douche bags anyway. On the bright side....at least you can spot the douche bags from a mile out by seeing the sun reflecting on the hundreds of sequins and colorful fake tats that mean "love" in Hebrew or Arabic....or whatever you thought was trendy that drunken night downtown Miami. Does anyone know if they are targeting the elderly crowd? In the past two days ive seen men in their 80's wearing tight Hardy shirts. It matched their Centrum Silver gray hair and the tennis balls on their walkers....so im give em' that. OKay. I feel a little better now. Thank you Blogger.

Breathing through a Snorkel.

I went snorkeling for the first time yesterday. As I was looking at the beautiful array of fish, sea turtles and coral reef, I had some time to think as well as listen. I could hear nothing but the sound of my lungs inhaling air from above through the snorkel and exhaling back a top my head. It made me thankful to have healthy lungs. Since the beginning of my interest in Respiratory Therapy ive heard the sounds of people with COPD, Asthma etc etc and its not pretty. Oxygen is the key to our life and if we mess up our lungs by smoking or unhealthy living.....then youre making a grave mistake. (i know im stating the obvious) A lot of people arent as fortunate as me and have severe alergies, asthma, genetic disorders. I want to HELP these people oneday learn more about their situation and how to improve their life as well as work with people that have may been smokers for years to improve lung functionality. This me just ranting again...waiting to hear back from the RT Program. They make their decisions tomorrow....so cross your fingers....

Applied.

Okay, So im sitting here in a restaurant that rhymes with SMeckdonalds...doing my Chemistry homework and thinking about my future. I officially applied to the RT program last week so im hoping for the best. The only think in my way is going to be College Algebra. Math and I have been fighting for years but i think im going to finally beat her this time. Im have to make a C or higher this summer to be eligible. After next weeks test I should know somewhat what I have in the class.

Also...I bought a laptop from Dell about 6 months ago and I still get people asking me about it. Its like they have never seen a laptop before. Yes...its 9". Yes its small. Yes, im sure you want one. Funny thing...i will have my glasses on...pen in hand....earphones in....and people still ask me about it. Maybe I should start studying in hiding lol.

The American Way

How neat is it that anyone with an idea and the will to succeed CAN in America.?

As I lay on the couch watching The Discovery Channel's Pitchmen, I got to thinking about how we as Americans forget about our liberties and options we have with our lives. There are so many other places in the world where someone with multimillion dollar idea or the simplest idea to help someone else would go unknown or be shot down.

I know so many people that have come from other countries with the mentality and the drive to succeed that they maximize the freedom that so many of us take for granted. Yes, I might be talking from a business standpoint, but I feel as though a lot of us are wasting our lives away.

I was watching the loudest man on the face of the planet Billy Mays sell....home gyms, lettuce shredders, wine freshness seals, plant watering devices....the list goes on! Our world can forever be improved on......keyword...FOREVER. We should never be discouraged and say..."well...im too late...someone else got it..."

Do we not need to live a meaningful life? Do we not want to make a change in someone else's life?

I want both.

Sorry for the rant....this is me being tired and trying to think.....

First Official Blog....

Well, here we are. Where do we go from here? That seems to be the question of the day. This is where I am at the moment......

Currently I'm taking my final two classes this summer that I will need to help me get into the Respiratory Therapy Program at Palm Beach College here in BEAUTIFUL South Florida.

I'm taking a high level Math course and a Chemistry class that I never took while attending the University of Tennessee.

Why Respiratory Therapy? I love people. I want a career that will challenge me the rest of my life. I want to be in a always growing field. I want to add meaningfulness to my life.

I want to be a SPONGE! Immerse myself in RT......learn as much as possible.....become the BEST POSSIBLE RT that one could ever be.

I'm excited about the journey ahead. BRING IT ON!
